October 2011 Newsletter page 4We follow the US budget crisis, and have trouble imagining what the budget crisis in a new country such as Sudan might look like. Should they prioritize peacekeeping? Building roads in a country the size of France that boasts less than 100 miles of paved road? Potable water? Vector control to diminish scourges like malaria and kala azar? Feeding malnourished kids? Electricity? Or maybe schools, so more of the next generation will be able to help with these challenges? In Old Fangak, we continue the work that we have pioneered for 22 years now:
Your generosity towards this work is what makes it fly. As always, 100% of contributions go straight to project expenses. Crosscurrents International Institute provides us with free charitable donation management support. Expatriate volunteers work without pay; administration and fundraising are done for the love of it. While needs always exceed the budget we raise, you can rest assured that donations will be stretched to ofer more than the chance to survive. Hope that springs from your support for this new country is priceless. With many thanks,
